This world-famous theatre, home of the Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera and the ROH Orchestra, is open during the day to the general public, as well as being open to ticket holders during performances. Pre-booked guided tours are available daily. Enjoy a morning coffee or lunch at the Amphitheatre Restaurant, or take a drink out to the Amphitheatre Terrace with its stunning views across the Covent Garden Piazza. Buy a ticket for a performance from the Box Office and visit the ROH shop for a wide range of souvenirs.

A site of theatrical nature since 1728, the Royal Opera House is, as its name suggests, the don of opera houses in England. Home also to the Royal Ballet, a wide range of shows come through, all of which are the highest quality and the surroundings are as lush as it’s possible to get.

On the northeastern flank of the piazza is the gleaming, redeveloped – and practically new – Royal Opera House. Unique ‘behind the scenes’ tours take you through the venue, and let you experience the planning, excitement and hissy fits that take place before a performance at one of the world’s busiest opera houses. As it’s a working theatre, plans can change so you’d best call ahead. Of course, the best way to enjoy it is by seeing a performance.
